You built a life between two worlds.
You don’t have to carry it alone.
Maybe you left home. Maybe you grew up between your parents' home and this one. Underneath a life that looks fine is grief nobody named, a self that changes by the room, and a quiet question about where you belong.

Let’s be honest:
Living between worlds has a cost nobody warned you about.
Co-existing in multiple worlds and cultures doesn’t come with a roadmap. The competing demands and expectations leave you feeling tugged in opposing directions, and you’re left with the feeling that no matter how hard you try, you’ll never be enough for anyone.
Even though there are a lot of people in your life, it feels like nobody from any ‘side’ really gets you, and you’re not sure where you truly belong.
You’re tired of facing microaggressions when you’re out and about, and obstacles in advancing at work. All this is impacting on your relationship, where you’re struggling to communicate and feel a sense of togetherness across the divides.
-
You call home on Sundays and hang up, homesick and guilty.
You missed a funeral, a wedding, or a grandparent's last years because of distance, papers, or money.
Holidays here never feel quite like holidays.
-
Your accent gets noticed here. Your Spanish gets teased there. Ni de aquí, ni de allá.
You switch who you are depending on the room, and some days you're not sure which one is you.
You're proud of the life you built, and sometimes you grieve who you'd be if you had stayed.
-
You've been the family translator since you were a kid: doctor's visits, bills, school meetings.
You worked twice as hard to make their sacrifice worth it. Now you don't know how to stop.
Your partner doesn't get why your mother's opinion weighs so much, or why you send money home.
None of this means something is wrong with you. It means you've been carrying a lot, often alone, and often without words for it.
I’M Liliana.
I get it.
I specialize in helping bicultural clients and couples like you find a stronger anchor, so conflicting tensions and messages in your experience don’t destabilize you.
As a bicultural & bilingual (English/Spanish) person myself, I know all too well how challenging it can be to move between cultural worlds at home, work, and in your relationships. In therapy with me, we will get curious about the different worlds you are navigating in a non-judgmental space where all the parts of you are truly welcome. We will work together to make you feel more connected and better resourced, so that life feels not only more manageable, but more expansive and enjoyable.
-
You’ve spent so much energy fitting in, being the good daughter/son at home, the easygoing one at work, the “not too much” one everywhere else, that somewhere along the way you lost track of yourself. Or maybe you’re not even sure who you were to begin with.
In our work together, you get a place where you don’t have to perform for anyone. We’ll look at the different parts of you, the ones from each world, and figure out which ones you actually want to keep. The goal isn’t to pick a side. It’s to feel like one whole person, wherever you are.
-
You love each other. But since you moved in together, got married, or had kids, the differences that once drew you together have started pulling you apart. Whose family gets the holidays? Which language will the kids speak? Is sending money home an act of generosity or a problem? Why does one of you raise your voice when you’re upset while the other goes quiet?
Underneath, it’s rarely about the holiday or the money. It’s about feeling like your partner doesn’t understand where you come from, or what you gave up to be here.
I help couples see the cycle they get stuck in, so it stops being you against each other and becomes the two of you against the pattern. You’ll learn to hear what your partner’s culture, family, and history are asking for, and build a relationship with room for both of your worlds.

You’re so good at adapting that nobody can tell how hard you’re working. But underneath the smile, there’s a voice saying you’ll never be enough, and it doesn’t let up. You lie awake replaying conversations. Your jaw is tight, your stomach is in knots, and your chest feels heavy for no clear reason. Maybe you’ve had a panic attack that felt so physical you thought something was seriously wrong.
For many migrants and children of migrants, anxiety has deep roots: worry about family far away, pressure to make the sacrifice worth it, years of staying alert in places where you didn’t feel safe to relax. Your body learned to stay on guard. It makes sense, and it can change.
Together, we’ll calm your nervous system so your body stops sounding the alarm, and quiet the inner critic that keeps picking you apart. The goal is to sleep, rest, and enjoy what you’ve built without bracing for the next thing to go wrong.
-
You grew up knowing your family gave up everything so you could be here. So you became the one who made it: first in college, first in the office, first to explain to your parents what your job even is. You can’t afford to slow down, because the sacrifice has to be worth it.
But the pace you’ve kept isn’t sustainable. You’re exhausted, irritable with the people you love, and your body is starting to keep score. Resting makes you feel guilty. Asking for help feels like failing. And you’re so deep in it that you can’t see a way out.
As a first-generation professional myself, I know this pressure from the inside. Together, we’ll look at the rules you were raised with, keep the ones that serve you, and find a way to succeed without costing you your health or your relationships.
